MagikalMoments Heart of BC

I grew up in the Interior of BC near Kamloops, where we spent many weekends and holidays in the backcountry. I would hike the hills behind our home for hours and enjoy the natural beauty and wildlife. My husband grew up in the Lower Mainland, but he, too, spent many holidays fishing in the Interior. When our children were growing up, we took them to the same lakes to see the beauty of our province. We have many magikal memories fishing at Loon Lake with them.

This past summer, forest fires ravished the interior of our beautiful province. This litter is being nicknamed to honour places most affected by the fires. We have seen cities like Kamloops really step up and graciously host and assist thousands of people evacuated from their homes. We have seen many farming families open up their land to displaced animals. Thank you, BC, for having such a strong heart that even devastating forest fires could not break! These names are for you....

MagikalMoments Cache

Baby #1 was firstborn and is the tiniest at 54g. Baby is gaining steady and is quite the little fighter! S/he makes sure s/he plows right through the siblings to get to the Milk Bar!

11 days....Baby #1 needs a nickname of strength....so s/he will be known as Cache after Cache Creek, BC. This little village suffered a lot of devastating loss this year and the villagers continue to band together as a community and fight for the survival of their little town. Little Cache, as the runt of the litter, embodies this spirit...s/he fights every day for food and a good napping spot. At less than half of the siblings' weight, this can't be easy! At present, we believe little Cache is a girl...but the Gender Change Fairy might visit still!

Cache fought bravely, but, unfortunately, at 13 days, she didn't have any more fight in her. Despite extra bottle feedings from us, she just couldn't gain enough strength to keep fighting. She passed in the middle of her sibling pile about 10pm on September 12. Rest in Peace, Cache.

MagikalMoments Koa

(formerly known as Niko)

Baby #2 wears a green collar for now. S/he weighed 71g at birth and is gaining. This one looks like s/he will have beautiful colouring!

At almost 3 weeks, Niko appears to be a little boy. He is named for the entire Thompson Nicola region of BC. There were many communities affected by forest fires in this region, that it was impossible to choose just one. Niko is very energetic already...he loves to walk laps around the perimeter of the Kitten Box. He enjoys finger pets already!

At 5 1/2 weeks, Niko continues to be a loving, attention-seeking sweetheart! He is going to steal our hearts and break them when he leaves! He always loves to greet us at the Kitten Door and climb all over us to tell us about his day! He isn't too good about sharing our attention though! He is an adventurous, adorable boy! He was the first of the Heart of BC litter that we seen eating food. Niko is a gorgeous boy and we see some glitter...and look at that "wild cat" face of his! What's not to love!

At almost 8 weeks, Niko is absolutely a lover boy! This guy loves his attention and is constantly playing with us! He climbs onto the couch with us and plays for hours! He is adventurous and is the only kitten in this litter to try some wet food!

Niko is a friendly, outgoing boy at almost 11 weeks. He loves attention and is often at the centre of whatever is going on! He loves his dehydrated chicken treats so much...he tries to pry open the container to help himself before eating his dinner! Niko (and his sister Boo) were reserved this week for the Bantog family in Vancouver.

At almost 13 weeks, Niko is a LoverBoy and a Surfer Dude all rolled up in one package for his new family! He is quite laid back, but he will get pushy if he wants a spot on The Lap for purrs and pets! We are going to miss this boy!

MagikalMoments Willie

(keeping his kitten name)

Purple Collar was 3rd born and was the largest kitten at birth...90g. S/he is always in the midst of a kitten pile...even in this heat!

Sept 9....12 days...Willie found his name! He is named after Williams Lake, the area affected by the largest forest fire. He chose his name when he peed on my lap! I decided if he could pee that much, he might send much needed rain to the Williams Lake area fires. Willie loves attention. This little boy is often laying on his back and loves tummy rubs already!

October 9....Willie is a sweetheart! This little boy is very active and loves to race around. But, he also loves to be loved on and will climb right onto my lap for loving. This confident boy doesn't seem to be scared of anything...he just bulldozes his way to whatever he wants. Willie has amazing colouration and beautiful leopard spots already....get a good look as he is starting his Fuzzy Stage!

At almost 8 weeks, Willie is gorgeous and enjoys playing with his siblings. Willie lets me hold him like a baby in my arms for tummy rubs at bedtime, but he doesn't yet seek out attention.

Willie is 11 weeks old now and is a patient sweetheart! This little darling waits for his extra loving time while I serve his mommy and siblings their wet food. He enjoys playing and beating up his sisters! Willie has been reserved for Kody in Mission!

At almost 13 weeks, Willie is more laid back. He loves to sit on my lap for pets and purrs, but when it is play time, he often chooses to play by himself. Guess his siblings don't share well enough for him. Willie is almost ready to go home with Kody. We are going to miss this gorgeous boy who looks more and more like Daddy Simba every day!

MagikalMoments Kami Kali

Baby #4 technically has an Orange collar that s/he never seems to keep on! This little one is has some distinct markings already seen...look at the little mustache!

12 days...Kami is the largest kitten in the litter, so it seems almost fitting for this baby to be named after the community with the biggest heart...the one who took in many evacuees and worked tirelessly to help them out. Thank you Kamloops! Kami is a quiet girl in the box...she seems to like to do her own thing. She does like to get finger pets and she seems to be Mama's favourite.

At just over 5 weeks old, Kami has already learned to use the litter box. She is still the biggest kitten in the litter, but her brother Willie is about to catch up! Kami is a sweetheart and likes to be cuddled and pet...but she also loves to run around their room and play! She was first to climb to the higher levels on the little scratch posts in their room...and is often sitting up there to swat at her brothers! Kami has very pretty and distinct rosettes (even as she enters her Fuzzy Stage) and I've seen some glitter too!

At almost 8 weeks, Kami is a quiet girl who enjoys playing and napping. She enjoys playing with wand toys with us, but she isn't yet seeking out attention like Niko. She is often cuddling with little Boo!

At 11 weeks, Kami looks a lot like her daddy Simba. She is a force to be reckoned with and takes no prisoners with her two brothers! She is a lot nicer to her sister! Kami loves her wet food and her chicken!

At 12.5 weeks, Kami definitely knows what she wants and she often gets it. She enjoys sitting on laps, and will wiggle her sibling(s) out of the way to get there!

MagikalMoments Keilani

(formerly known as Boo)

Baby #5 wears a Yellow Collar and was first to open its eyes...at 5 days old! Baby is now trying to walk around the Nesting Box at 8 days old! This one has places to go!

Boo is named for the Cariboo region of BC...another large area devastated by forest fires! Boo is now the smallest kitten in the litter, since Cache passed away...but Boo still has places to go. This little one is always squirming...so we still haven't been able to decide if Boo is a girl or boy!

At 5.5 weeks old, Boo is absolutely stunning! Who can't resist wanting to kiss his cute little nose? He is a gorgeous golden colour (photos don't do him justice!) and is glittered! His rosettes, even going into the Fuzzy Stage, are clearly defined! Personality-wise, Boo is not as cuddly as his siblings at this stage...he is a bit of a baby. He likes to cuddle in the Kitten Bed with whatever sibling he can coax into a nap and he follows Mama around quite a bit too. Boo enjoys playing with a variety of balls in the Kitten Room and is eating dry food.

At almost 8 weeks, Boo is a Mama's boy! He has huge big purrs for his mommy, especially when it is nursing time. He is the smallest kitten of the litter still, but he is becoming more adventurous. He likes roaming through the house now and often has a toy or two with him. Mama Spark often bring him "presents" from the recycling bin (scrunched up paper is a favourite) and he plays with these for hours!

Well....Boo managed to meet the Gender Change Fairy! Boo is definitely a little girl...vet confirmed!

Miss Boo is now 11 weeks old and is still a little sweetie! She is definitely the baby in the litter and often sits back and watches the others. But when she thinks no one is watching, she is a little tornado! She will pounce on and steal their toys....chase her pompom around the house, and get into all kinds of mischief. Miss Boo will be going home with Niko to the Bantog family in Vancouver soon.

At 12.5 weeks old, Little Boo has caught up to her siblings in weight...and she has developed an independent minded side. This girl is determined. She practiced jumping up onto the window sill over and over until she could do it....she will push her siblings over and over to get onto a lap of her choice. She his very strong minded...the Bantog family will be busy with her!
